This plug-in could solve the problem permanently.
Every time you press Ctrl+S, a backup file (or more, depending on the settings you choose) will be created, which will be a virtual copy renamed .psd1.
In the event of a corrupt file or any other problem, renaming the backup file extension to .psd will allow you to recover your work file.
